Surgical waiting lists down in Saskatchewan - for now

I don't want to sound like a gloomy gus, but this story caught my eye. Actually, this is great news, that surgical waiting lists are falling and there is now more efficiency in the system.
My only problem with this, is that this may soon be the equivalent of trying to turn back the ocean with a teaspoon. In about 10 years from now or maybe less, the health care system in Canada will be buried in an avalanch of retired and retiring Baby Boomers, who make up 1/3 of the Canadian population. It is likely that the number of seniors who need surgery of some kind will explode over the next 20 years. This will come, regardless of which party is in power in Saskatchewan. If the government of the day is caught off guard by these developments, it could thrust Medicare into dire straits. Will a future government be forced to adopt surgical user fees? We had better start talking about this soon.
