Royal Visit for Saskatchewan in 2012

2012 promises to be an exciting year for Saskatchewan with a royal visit from the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The last time Prince Charles was in Saskatchewan was 10 years ago. There was a strike at the Hotel Saskatchewan at that time, so the Prince of Wales had to stay at the Regina Inn. Normally when members of the Royal Family visit Regina, they stay at the Hotel Saskatchewan.

Regina City Councillors to vote on new Stadium proposal

This is going to be very, very interesting.
If Council votes in favour of this model, I wonder how the city will come up with its share of money for the Stadium?

3 seats to be added to Saskatchewan Legislature by 2015

61 seats in the Saskatchewan Legislature? I'm extremely excited about the growing population of Saskatchewan. It shows our growing economy is gaining traction. But we should be using this newfound wealth and new citizens grow the size of government in Saskatchewan, or should we hold the line on public spending, and not add to the burden of taxpayers? Can't we make do with 58 MLAs and save some money?

A tale of 2 parties

The Saskatchewan Greens are on their way up, while the BC Greens are on their way down. The difference between these two parties is one of attitude - if you think you are beat, you are. Boo to defeatist thinking of all kinds!

Sask. Housing rent hikes are coming next month

And the controversy over rising rents in Saskatchewan continues. I don't see this issue going away anytime soon, and I don't see any quick solutions to this problem either. The only sustainable solutions to soaring rents in Saskatchewan's urban centres is for the construction of more rental units, and a moratorium on further condo conversions. In the meantime, the pain continues.

A new credit for first time homebuyers in Saskatchewan

Hopefully this will help first time homebuyers with their major purchase. Most first time homebuyers I know are juggling huge personal debts. This tax credit should help with the bottom line at income tax time.
